In tech news, the AP reports that the new iPhone application mTrip is more than just a travel guide. In fact, it uses smart phone technology to make it easier to get around in foreign locations. It’s been called “augmented reality,” and it takes the GPS feature on the smartphone and couples it with access to high-speed wireless networks pumping in massive amounts of data and local content. Here’s how it works. You launch the app or augmented reality button on your phone and look through your phone’s camera at a location. Icons will appear that will show other points of interest — like restaurants within a mile radius of your location. You’ll be able to get drilled down information like restaurant hours and comments about the establishment.
